The Greatest Miracle Jesus Ever Did

What is the greatest miracle Jesus ever did? The Gospels record around 40 miracles Jesus did from healing the blind, crippled, lepers, and even raising the dead. But which one was the greatest?

In Mark chapter 2 (you can find the passage at the bottom), Jesus has come to the city of Capernaum and a large crowd has gathered around the house He is in.

A man with palsy is lowered from the ceiling and Jesus is about to heal him and doesn’t. He forgives him of his sin first.

After Jesus does this there were some scribes who were troubled by Jesus forgiving this man’s sin. And Jesus calls them out on it. He asks them what is more difficult? To forgive one’s sins or to heal them of their physical ailments?

Often I fall into this mindset too. I want to see Jesus work in a powerful way. I want to see Him heal someone in a miraculous way. But we miss what the greatest miracle Jesus did was.

The greatest miracle Jesus ever did was save me from sin. He knew who I was and He knows who I am. Yet He loves me. He died for me. He forgives me.

They greatest miracle I’ve ever seen Jesus do is take a sinner and save him from his sin. Jesus takes a person who was dead and bound for eternal separation from God and brings them to life and makes them a child of His. What could be more miraculous than that?

When we truly realize the great love and sacrifice it took to save our soul we will then understand how great salvation is.

Don’t forget that the greatest thing Jesus ever did and could ever do for you was save you from sin.

There’s a great song about this, it goes like this

I wasn't there by the shores of Galilee

When Jesus touched those blinded eyes

And made them see

And though I did not see the empty tomb that day

I still believed, for I know what Jesus did for me.

I believe there is power in the blood of the Lamb

And I believe there is healing in the touch of His hand

But the greatest of all miracles was when Jesus saved me

For I know what Jesus did for me

I have seen the lowest sin-sick soul

Have life anew and be made pure, pure and whole

And I have felt Him loose the chains of sin

And set my spirit free

Yes, I know what Jesus did for me

Mark 2:1-12

And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
