Time is Money

I'm sure you've heard the statement "time is money" or "spend your time wisely". But I have to say today those statements hit me in a different way. In an incredibly obvious way.

How do I spend my time?

If my time was in "dollars" how would those "dollars" be spent?

Am I budgeting my time well?

Am I making account of how I spend the "dollars" of time I am given each day?

I understand a certain amount of time is already set aside. Much like a mortgage or utility bill would be set aside. Things like sleeping, eating, work, etc, all seem to take a certain amount of my time everyday. And much like a utility bill if I don't get enough sleep or food... the lights go out on me.

But what about the rest?

Dave Ramsey, a well known financial expert, says to be sure you know where every dollar is going. I think that's good advice. But what about your time? Do we deem our time as valuable as our money?

I'd propose that time is of much more value.

You can always make or save an extra buck, but you can't get back another minute. So spend it wisely.

A verse comes to mind when I think of these things - Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Time is truly a treasure. So where is your treasure?

I understand there are essential things of life: eating, sleeping, work, etc. But what about the rest?

Do you give time to Jesus? Do you give time to His church? Do you give time to your family? Do you give time to others?

So many things can occupy the currency of your time.

Be purposeful with it. Don't waste it away.
The interest paid on wasted time is regret.

Spend your time wisely.
