Yielding to the Spirit, Denying the flesh, and Producing Fruit - Part 2.
Galatians 5:18 -
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Be led by the Spirit
As followers of Jesus Christ we are not only to walk in the Spirit but also be led by Him. (Read “Yielding to the Spirit, Denying the flesh, and Producing Fruit - Part 1” here)
Although these seem like the similar things the Scripture makes a distinction. The walking in the Spirit is doing what the Spirit wants. The leading of the Spirit is Him showing what He wants.
As New Testament believers we are no longer under the Law, but rather we have the Holy Spirit of God inside of us to guide us.
The law brings forth works.
We can glory in our works. The things that came by our hands and hearts.
The Spirit brings forth fruit.
A branch does nothing to bring forth fruit except submitting itself to the life-giving flow of the vine.
When we bring forth fruit we have no room to glory because it is not of our own doing.
As we submit to the will and way of the Spirit we produce fruit. Because we are good? No! Because the Spirit is good.
The source of our “fruit” is not in of ourselves, but rather in and of the Spirit.
Be mindful of the way the Spirit is leading you today and walk in it.
